Ayurveda Fellowship in New York

The DINacharya Institute in New York is offering a faculty development fellowship for an Ayurvedic physician interested in teaching and studying in New York for one (1) month to six weeks in mid-2012. Airplane transportation, housing in New York, food, local transportation, internet access, local mobile telephone, and lecturer/tourist visa for the Fellow will be provided by the Hospital and the DINacharya Institute.

The Fellow must have the following qualifications –
• Licensed ayurvedic physician, with at least five (5) years clinical experience
• Able to adapt to allopathic-predominant hospital setting
• Fluent in English
• Excellent presentation skills and ability to dialogue with audience while teaching
• Able to teach Ayurveda in English, covering topics at appropriate breadth & depth, as per the syllabus that will be assigned
• Fluent with computer slide presentations, emails, internet, and Skype

Weekdays will be spent teaching Ayurveda clinical skills and physical diagnosis to residents and faculty at a New York area teaching hospital in the family medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine departments. The Fellow must have an interest in learning osteopathic and complementary/alternative medicines and should be familiar with terms of allopathic medicine. The Fellow will be trained on giving high-quality slide presentations to a non-Ayurvedic audience.

Weekends will be spent teaching Ayurveda to a group of health professionals who are learning Ayurveda at the DINacharya Institute. The Fellow will be introduced to research opportunities, ayurveda policy and regulation in the United States, and community organizing.

Additional teaching opportunities in the USA will be available depending on the candidate's teaching acumen and availability.

The fellow should ideally be affiliated with an ayurvedic medical college and or post-graduate institute in India, to foster collaborations and future clinical research agendas.
